Low-Cost Real-Time Locating System Solution Development and Implementation in Manufacturing Industry

The present work originates from a previous study in which low-cost Real-Time Locating System (RTLS) based on Ultra-Wideband signals was developed and tested both laboratory real industrial environment for assessing its performance determining the best configuration, according to some selected KPIs. Starting future research directions depicted, evolution herein presented is twofold. First, tests performed are refined deepened terms of (i) different anchors’ arrangements orientation; (ii) increased number tags; (iii) tags’ battery capacity test. Second, development deployment solution as well improved by means case hosting tags be positioned asset tracked, realized through 3D printing, line with context requirements. Finally, an economic analysis so demonstrate convenience investment feasibility solution. Results positive promising sustainability implementation system may constitute guidelines practitioners managers.
